Scarf-Tying Videos

Scarf-Tying Videos

In our prior From the Flock installments, we shared pictures and descriptions of many of our favorite ways to wear silk scarves (1) and the geometry that lets you fold a silk scarf so that any part of the design you choose is visible (2).

  1. How to Wear a Scarf
  2. How to Fold a Square Silk Scarf Into a Band

Here are five video examples (thanks to Friend of the Flock Talisa!) of how to fold, tie, and wear a scarf in some of our favorite ways:

Around the Waist

Instructions

We love this look in a triangle held with a knot or clasp (any ring will do), or folded into a tighter band and fed through belt loops.

Crossover Top

Instructions

This is the scarf look of the summer! It's giving fun, beachy, but also dinner in Paris.

Sailor with clasp

Instructions

Use a ring from the Moutonière Fine Metals & Gems Collection for extra points! This is the style we recommend to people who are new to scarfs. You simply fold the scarf into a triangle or band, drape the triangle around your neck with the ends in front, tuck the ends into the ring, and pull snug. There is no knot to tie.

You may be skeptical at first that the ring will hold the scarf securely. It will! Try it. This is the number one look we recommend for guys as it is easy to do and compatible with your wedding ring, signet ring, class ring, or any other ring you already have.

Simple triangle tied in front

Instructions

Perhaps the most classic way to wear a scarf, short of as a band wrapped around your neck. This is our favorite way to dress up more casual outfits. It's great for museum touring or gallery hopping on holiday!

Top with necklace

Instructions

For the pinnacle of chic, pair with a knot link necklace from the Moutonière Fine Metals & Gems Collection! (But also it works with any necklace in your collection — shown here with a vintage chain d'ancre necklace.)

Happy Scarfing!
